HALIFAX’S re-formed under 23 side make their first outing tonight in a warm up fixture against Oldham at the Whitebank Stadium (7.30).
The fixture will be the first since Fax scrapped their second-string two years ago.
The side, coached by Martin Gonzalez, is being part funded by the club’s Supporters’ Trust.
Gonzalez has named an 18-man line up with an average age of 20 for tonight’s meeting with the Roughyeds, including some familiar names.
Hooker Stuart Proctor and centre Ben Hinsley both featured for the team in its previous incarnation, while Rochdale-based winger Setareki Talatoka played in the pre season clash with Super League side Hull KR.
Threequarter Jessjo Sheriffe, the younger brother of former Fax players Rikki and Jode, will also achieve the rare distinction of having played for both the town’s rugby league and football clubs after turning out for FC Halifax Town’s first team in 2009.
Halifax: Sheriffe; Brennan, Hinsley, Dennis, Talatoka, Proctor, McCoy, Steele, Murphy, Sykes, Goodman, Mudd, Jackson, Taylor, Friss, Gilligan, Dolan, Whalley.
