Harrison: Week off will be no holiday

Halifax coach Karl Harrison has warned his squad they will not be “getting an easy ride” ahead of this weekend’s blank in the fixture list.

Fax tumbled out of the Northern Rail Cup at Dewsbury last month after a sub-par display, meaning they now have just a single Championship fixture - ironically against the Rams - in the rest of June.

Harrison confirmed his players will get Saturday and Sunday off, but they will have to work for it.

“It’s not my fault we’re out of the NRC, so no one will be getting an easy ride this week,” said the former Test prop.

“We were due to train Tuesday, but the problems on the M62 meant we only had half a squad there.

“But we’re in tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow and we’ve got plenty to get through.

“It’s our last real chance to get any extra conditioning done, because once we get into July, we’re into the final half dozen games and you start thinking about freshening players up for the play offs.”
