HALIFAX made an impressive start to competitive life under new coach Karl Harrison, crushing Dewsbury 36-6 at Rams Stadium in their Northern Rail Cup opener.
The visitors, for whom the former Dewsbury prop Adam Robinson was outstanding, led 14-0 at the break after scoring three first half tries from Craig Ashall, Wayne Reittie and Sean Penkywicz.
Teenage stand off Anthony Bowman pushed their lead out to 20-0 early in the second half, allowing Fax to coast home with Robinson, half back Paul Handforth and substitute Anthony Thackeray adding further scores.
“I thought it was a very good, controlled performance in difficult conditions,” said Harrison.
