Halifax skipper Scott Murrell has labelled the club’s Northern Rail Cup trip to Dewsbury as a “tough” contest.
Fax, who won the trophy last season, were paired with the Rams in Wednesday night’s draw for the knockout stages, which was held at the Shay, the venue for July’s NRC finals day.
“It’s going to be difficult, it’s a tough place to go and they’re a tough team,” said Murrell, who highlighted Fax’s pre-season loss at the same venue as a warning of the potential dangers.
“They beat us quite comfortably in pre-season, putting 30-odd points past us.
“They really gave it to us in the forwards that day and that’s the way they play there.
“We’ve beaten them pretty convincingly since then in the league, but even that was tight for 40 minutes and it’s always a different kind of fixture when you play them at their place.”
Full draw: Featherstone v Leigh, Sheffield v Barrow, Workington v Hunslet, Dewsbury v Halifax, Keighley v Batley, Swinton v North Wales Crusaders, London v Whitehaven, York v Doncaster. Games will be played weekend of May 19.
