SIDDAL coach Lee Greenwood has admitted his side are relishing the challenge they expect to be presented by Hunslet Warriors at Chevinedge tomorrow.
The Warriors, who are Siddal’s ‘cross conference’ opponents in the group stages of the truncated National Conference season, will kick off next year’s summer season in Division One after dominating Division Two last time out.
And Greenwood believes the Leeds outfit - who are expected to include former professionals Dwayne Barker, Caldon Bravo and Chris Ross, alongside free-scoring centre Mark Cunningham - should bring the best out of a Siddal side who have cruised through their opening fixtures.
“It should be a good game and I think everyone is looking forward to it now,” said Greenwood.
“I think it’s what the players need now, to be honest.
“We’re expecting it to be tough: they walked Division Two last season and they will want to show they can beat a top Premier Division team.
“They’ve got half a dozen players who have been around the lower leagues as professionals and they will know what it’s all about.”
Greenwood is expected to name his best available side for the first time, although he will be without back rower Nick Smith and full back Scott Caley, who are both unavailable.
“We will go with our strongest 17,” said Greenwood.
