Worrincy ban extended after appeal flops

Halifax winger Rob Worrincy has had his suspension for betting extended to nine months after an unsuccessful appeal.

Courier Sport understands the Rugby Football League will confirm today (Wednesday) that the former Sheffield speedster will now be banned until December this year.

Worrincy, who remains contracted to Fax until the end of 2015, was suspended in March but had appealed his original sentence after Batley’s Johnny Campbell and Ayden Faal had their suspensions, imposed after similar charges, reduced.

That looks to have backfired after the game’s governing body fielded additional evidence supporting the original allegations - relating to bets placed in 2012 and 2013 - against the London-born player, ending Worrincy’s hopes of playing a part in Fax’s end of season run in.
