Siddal bowed out of the new National Conference Cup at the quarter final stage after losing 34-30 at Egremont.
Gareth Greenwood’s Premier Division outfit had two players - Simeon Hoyle (dissent) and Scott Caley (foul play) - sent off and two more sin-binned, meaning they played a total of around 25 minutes with only 11 men.
Incredibly, Siddal still led going into the closing stages, but were finally undone by a try on the last play of the match.
“I blew up at them a bit afterwards because, despite everything, we did enough to win,” said Greenwood.
“The only positive is that we will now get a couple of free weekends which should help us in the league.”
There was also a last-gasp loss for Ovenden in Division Two, with Gareth Jones’ young side missing out at Normanton 27-24.
“We almost did everything right, so I can’t be too critical,” said Jones.
“It was a good performance considering we had five under 17s in the side.”
