SLIDESHOW: Lions roar to glory in back yard
After six races, Stainland’s men, ladies and vets finished top of the league. Lions were also the top team overall, leaving team captain Tim Walker a very happy man.
There were 64 Lions in a field of 317 runners and tghey were put through their paces across a technical 5.7 miles of undulating terrain, including mud, hilly trails and even a stream.

Hide AdGavin Mullholland won the race but was pushed all the way by team mate Ed Hyland in second.
Stainland also had a 1-2 among the women. Lucy Collins showed what a tough competitor she. Despite falling twice she still won, crossing the line covered in mud and blood. Margaret Beever followed her home.
Other Lions acted as marshals or made sure everyone was fed and watered.
Collins, Beever, Lindsey Oldfield and Danielle Hirst made up the winning ladies team.

Stianland also had the third Super Vets team in David Roberts, John Bassinger and Aileen Baldwin, finishing in the sdame place with the men.
Northowram Pumas had 29 representatives and their finisher was Luke Cranfield in 14th followed by vets Tim Brook and Adam Standeven, who completed the the men’s team.
Veteran Elizabeth McDonnell was first female Puma home in 137th, closely followed by Lucy Oxley and Kirsty Edwards.

Hide AdTwo Stainland Lions members took part in the Great North West Half Marathon in Blackpool over a fast and flat course on the sea front.
Paul Hiley led the vets field in a superb time of 1:19:34 and Leon Severn completed in 1:34:18.
