Brods opened strongly with a try inside five minutes from Samoan centre Manu following a powerful break down the left from rangy winger Phil Tow. Dan Wood converted from the touchline.

Town made another long range break after 15 minutes, beating the cover defence to score wide out.

The Leeds side pulled back three points following an offside decision.

Wood and Liam Scott were finding good field position with their kicking out of hand and the Brods forwards were dominant in all phases.

A break by Ollie Akroyd on half way was supported by Town and he out-paced the defence to score wide on the left, Wood’s well struck kick extending the lead to 19-3 on 30 minutes.

The injury Jack Andrews was replaced by Matt Wroot with Matt Raven moving to hooker. Brods camped on the Yarnbury try line and Matt Wroot forced his way through a spirited defensive line on the right and Wood converted on the stroke of half time.

Brods continued their dominance, aided by good lineout ball. Bob Sykes was dominant in the air from the accurate throwing of Raven.

The scrum was solid with Josh Cricknay and Alex Dawson bossing their opponents and the second row of Pete Williams and Lee Scrimshaw working hard to keep them moving forward.

On 45 minutes Dawson won possession just inside the home 22 and he powered his way to the line, beating off several attempted tackles to touch down under the posts. Wood extended the lead to 33-3.

The home side asserted themselves on 55 minutes when scrum half and captain Oliver Cashman broke clear for an unconverted try.

Brods replied with a try from Wood, following some excellent handling by the backs.

With 20 minutes to go Danny Monk gave new signing Ben Barron his debut and he took it with both hands, the youngster showing outstanding pace to score two tries.

This was an excellent team effort from Brods and the young side’s confidence is clearly building but they will face a stiffer challenge from Malton and Norton next weekend.
