Tykes seeking second Roses victory

Yorkshire will be looking to complete a Friends life t20 double over Roses rivals Lancashire when the sides meet at Headingley this evening.

Innovative batting by Azeem Rafiq gave Yorkshire a thrilling last-over win against the Lightning at Old Trafford a week ago.

The young all-rounder, who took three for 15, lifted consecutive deliveries from Tom Smith over the wicketkeeper’s head to secure victory for the visitors.

That was Yorkshire’s second win in two days as their t20 campaign finally took off although they were left frustrated on Sunday when torrential rain forced the abandonment of their home clash with Northampton Steelbacks.

It is another crucial clash for both sides in a highly-competitive North Division from which the top four will qualify for the quarter finals.

Yorkshire are just two points behind second placed Warwickshire with a couple of games in hand while Lancashire are a point better off than the Tykes.

Yorkshire travel to Durham tomorrow for the first day of their latest Championship match
