Saturday’s horrendous weather was replaced by a dry and bright day as the 50 runners set off at intervals. They had three hours to visit as many checkpoints as they could without incurring penalties for being late.

Experienced orienteer and long distance specialist Simon Bourne produced a high quality display for a clear win.

In the spirit of this free weekly 5km event, Ingles has managed to take in Saturday runs in Edinburgh and Copenhagen before racking up his 50th in Halifax.

For good measure, he finished in the top 10 in the latest race.

Blackshaw Head’s Ian Symington came third in the Frostbite 30 in 5hrs 7mins. Kevin Hoult was sixth in the 34-miler from Pateley Bridge, 12 minutes behind his Calder clubmate
