Art and photography popping up all over town

Marketing Halifax supported by Calderdale Council, the Borough Market, Harveys of Halifax, Halifax Minster and The Woolshops present the second annual Halifax Art & Photography Festival on Saturday April 16.

This year shows significant development from its pilot year in 2015 which saw the festival launched as the ‘Halifax Mini Art and Photography Festival’.

A variety of activities will take place across Halifax, bringing together artists, photographers, students and art organisations to showcase local projects. There will be plenty of free entertainment and events for shoppers and their families to get involved with including ...

There will be an array of work by local artists both professional and amateur as well as by the students at Ryburn Valley High School and Calderdale College.

Pop up galleries will appear in locations that you would not expect, which will add an interesting twist to the usual Saturday shop.

Those who venture into town from Monday, April 1 onwards will see a number of pop up galleries through the week too.

Marketing Halifax is in partnership with a range of local organisations to celebrate local visual art, photography and creative activity.

Jason Gregg, Centre Manager at the Woolshops Shopping Centre said: “We are delighted to be welcoming and hosting part of the Art & Photography festival at Woolshops and hope shoppers enjoy viewing the display.”

Festival brochures will be distributed soon and will be available from Halifax Central Library and Halifax Tourist Information centre.
