Art show unveils new work

Dean Clough Galleries in Halifax are getting ready to unveil their Spring Exhibitions - and on view will be new solo shows by illustrator Ian Pollock, oil paintings by Tom Palin and work by photographer David Partner.

Highlights of the exhibitions will also include ‘Stacks, Spires and Tyres’ by Lancashire artist Helen Clapcott.

Helen’s striking pictures of Stockport’s industrial past have drawn comparisons with LS Lowry and her tempura-on-ghesso technique is gaining national recognition. Her precise and fresh pictures sell well and are collected in municipal galleries.

In ‘Living Landscape’ in the Upstairs Gallery, the work of six oil painters who are keen to prove that landscape painting still has a place in the digital age will be on show. The six - Patti Lean, Jack Attree, Jean Davey Winter, Richard Hatfield, David Fulford and Rob Moore - all ‘work with or from landscape’. They are showing their work at Dean Clough before it goes on a UK tour.

Renowned illustrator Ian Pollock shows 50 acerbic and oblique illustrations from the Old Testament. He has worked for most major newspapers on both sides of the Atlantic and produced posters for the RSC, stamps for the Royal Mail and book illustrations.

Ian C Taylor will show his pictures of neglected objects - from car insignias to old saws - and there will be the chance to make a detailed analysis of Tom Palin’s ‘The Tent’.
