Celebration of great folk

The streets and venues around Hebden Bridge will be alive with dance, music, storytelling, spoken word, street performance and craftwork as the annual Folk Roots Festival, a community run event, takes place this weekend.

The event boasts Grammy Award winner Amy Wadge (who co-writes with Hebden Bridge’s Ed Sheeran) and Mercury Award nominees Kathryn Williams and Michele Stodart of Magic Numbers fame. This year the festival has a super-sized fringe with more than 40 local musicians and on Sunday (May 15)there is a dedicated Bluegrass and Americana Day The Birchcliffe Centre.

The finale on Sunday evening at Machpelah Mill, includes former Seahorses front man, Chris Helme, plus Terry Logan and Duende Dj’s. Tickets and programmes from the Hebden Bridge Town Hall Box Office.
