Festival embraces the whole town

With a personal invite from Billy Bragg to play Glastonbury, sessions on 6 Music and Radio 2, a 5* live review and feature in The Guardian, a MOJO Folk Album of 2014 award for groundbreaking album, '˜The Hum', and a nomination for '˜Best Duo' in this year's BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards; O'Hooley & Tidow are regarded as lionhearted trailblazers of contemporary music and songwriting.

So it is entirely fitting that the pair should play a big part in Todmorden Folk Festival’s Saturday evening big concert at the Unitarian on April 16.

Gareth Scott who makes a return visit to the festival, has been developing a songwriting piece called This is From The Remains of Elmet; songs and spoken word inspired by the book of that name by late poet laureate Ted Hughes.

This promises to be a glorious feast of words and music developed especially for Todmorden Folk Festival.

Pop- up theatre, with Ruthie Boycott-Garnett’s “The Adventures of Pom” which will start off the afternoon show in the Unitarian is guaranteed to have children mesmerised.

Other acts at this hugely popular event include The Rachel Hamer Band who have just won the prestigious, ‘Graeme Miles Bursary’; renowned story teller, Ursula Holden Gill with her new show, ‘Romance and Ragamuffins’; DanWalsh who is nominated for Musician of the Year at this year’s BBC Radio Two Folk Awards and many more familiar names within the Folk world.

Full weekend tickets cost £29 for adults and £10 for under 16s.
