Sessions begin on Monday, August 24 with ‘Colour of Life, a morning of activities around the theme of colour, inspired by the Minster’s beautiful stained glass windows and fabrics.

History comes to life on Tuesday, August 25. Take a journey into the past as you meet – and become – characters who have had connections with the ancient building, including the creator of the gibbet, a judge from the Moot Court, Old Tristram, the Rev Pigou and a Roundhead recruiting officer.

On Wednesday, August 26 there’ll be a chance to bake your own bread (before tucking into it along with some delicious soup for lunch.)

Finally, on Thursday, August 27, families can enjoy the ‘Music of Life.’ This is a chance to explore the bell tower (accessed through a dark, narrow, spiral staircase so a head for heights is essential), use hand bells and discover the organ.

“Life is a great gift; it is filled with colour, interesting people, delicious food and wonderful music so why not join us this summer during our family fun week?” says organiser Nancy White.

Each visit is 10am-12.30pm, costing £2.50 per person. Children must be aged seven or older to climb the bell tower. To book call: 01422 355436 or email: [email protected]
