Gigs galore at the Doghouse

November is a hectic month for the Doghouse starting with back to back gigs on November 3 and 4.

On Thursday Harp & A Monkey will perform in the intimate setting of the Archway Room at Arden Road Social Club.

They’ll be singing songs about cuckolded molecatchers, a lone English oak tree that grows at Gallipoli, care in the community and medieval pilgrims.

The Wave Pictures, mainstays of BBC 6 Music are London based trio - Jonny Helm (drums), Dave Tattersall (guitar & vocals) and Franic Rozycki (bass).

Following on from last year’s Billy Childish collaboration Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon and their recent acoustic record A Season in Hull, Bamboo Diner in the Rain sees The Wave Pictures battling against the robot music apocalypse.

The new album is a bluesy, boozy love letter to the guitar, filled with American Primitive instrumentals, John Lee Hooker chugs and Link Wray style minor-key surf music. Support comes from Manchester band She Makes War (another BBC 6 session band) and local act Little Fiasco. Full details www.doghouseuk.com
