Look who's wearing the trousers!

Craftspeople and businesses are joining forces to open Hebden Bridge Arts Festival at a one off '˜Made in Hebden' event.

Local crafts collective Egg Factory will have its popular badge making machine and will run a pop up, printmaking session. Postman turned artist Kevin Boniface will have his Recorded Delivery Booth so people can hear his musings about life in West Yorkshire based on his daily rounds.

Georgia Boniface will show-off her bespoke workwear along with local trouser makers HebTroCo.

DJ Red Helen takes time off from running Ribbon Circus to spin discs, and there is a chance to chance to quaff Trouser Town ale brewed by Bridgestones at the Drink bar featuring four colourful labels designed by Arts Festival competition winners.

Arts Festival Artistic Director Helen Meller said: “It’s been a tough year for many of our local businesses and craftspeople who were affected by the flood, so we wanted to use our launch to make it clear Hebden Bridge is back open for business.”

Festival supporters will also have the first view of a photographic exhibition ‘She Wears the Trousers’, which will be displayed in the Town Hall. This has been curated in partnership with Bradford’s National Media Museum using vintage photos to trace the development of women wearing trousers in fashion and every day wear.

On the night there will be a special auction of the InsideOutHouse, created by award winning artist Hilary Jack, made from reclaimed office furniture and positioned on the Town Hall Terrace during the festival.

Made in Hebden starts at 6pm in Hebden Bridge Town Hall on June 24, and there will be chance to buy Arts Festival merchandise including one off designer bags.
