David Byrne treated a packed-out Piece Hall to an unforgettable and epic show last night.

The music legend’s Who Is The Sky? world tour was a feast for the ears and a bright orange party for the eyes.

Tickets for the former Talking Heads frontman’s headline show in Halifax sold out in a matter of minutes of becoming available – and last night it was very easy to see why.

Six thousand fans enjoyed performances of songs from across the icon’s stellar career including Everybody Laughs, When We Are Singing, And She Was, Like Humans Do, This Must Be The Place, Psycho Killer, Life During Wartime and Once In A Lifetime.

Just when the crowd thought the show was over, David and his band returned to the stage for a two-song encore of Everybody’s Coming To My House and Burning Down The House.

Singer and songwriter Anna Calvi opened the night, with David joining her on stage for a duet of her song Strange Weather to the delight of the crowd.

Live at The Piece Hall continues tonight with Blur legend Alex James and his Britpop Classical show.

The Flaming Lips and The Beta Band perform on Thursday night, followed by Tom Jones on Saturday, and many more acts before the end of August.
