Bob worked as the Head of Calder Valley Crime for West Yorkshire Police while Carol also heldseveral administrative roles in the Calder Valley Division.
Those who have read the DI Dylan books will recognise Tandem Bridge, the couple’s fictional location, as being based on Hebden Bridge and Todmorden.
The couple were voted the 8th best crime writers of all time in a recent poll on WHSmith website and have also sold the rights to their DI Dylan books to TV.
Their success has been achieved through the authenticity of the Dylan books which stems from Bob and Carol’s 47 years of front line policing work. The new Dylan book ‘Killer Smile’ takes DI Jack Dylan into dark territory when a serial killer with a fetish for teeth stalks the streets of Harrowfield.
“The last few years have been a whirlwind.” said Bob. “There has been a lot of hard graft but so many exciting developments - such as consulting on great TV shows such as ‘Scott & Bailey’ and ‘Happy Valley’, having number one books on Amazon and signing with a leading London literary agent.”
