Halifax will be transformed into a food lover’s fantasy with the arrival of the town’s eighth annual Food and Drink Festival.
Delivered by the team at Marketing Halifax and supported by Calderdale Council, Borough Market and The Woolshops, the festival will take place on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21.
Saturday will offer a live demonstration kitchen with chefs and local producers taking to the stage and around 100 exhibiting stall holders selling homemade food and drink.
A homegrown Farmer’s Market will also run in the town between 10am and 5pm.
On Sunday, new talent will be showcased on the the demonstration kitchen stage, there will be around 100 exhibiting stall holders and plenty of opportunity to taste free samples and grab some giveaways.
Visitors will be taken on a trip around the globe as local, regional, national and international cuisine will be on offer.
European, Asian, Indian, African and Caribbean foods will nestle between coffee vans and fruit and veg stalls and there will be something for all tastebuds and all pockets.
Marketing Halifax Chair, The Reverend Canon Hilary Barber said: “Halifax is proving to be one of the North’s leading food and drink festivals, gaining more and more recognition over the years and increasing visitor numbers in to the town centre annually, with over 27,000 visitors in 2014 making it the biggest town centre festival to take place in Halifax.
“The Halifax Food & Drink Festival is in a sublime location, as it surrounds the Grade II Listed Borough Market offering festivalgoers the opportunity to not only eat at the festival but also to shop in the market.”
The Festival is free to attend, suitable for all ages and a number of stalls will offer vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free and nut free products.
