Readers voted for their favourite Italian eateries in Calderdale. When the votes were tallied, Romeo and Juliet Restaurant and Pizzeria in Halifax was the most popular.

The eatery on Horton Street in Halifax offers a wide range of Italian cuisine from pizza and lasagne to steak pie and chicken stroganoff.

But what is the restaurant’s most popular dish?

“Every week it changes,” said: Raffaele. “People enjoy chicken, pasta, pizza, everything. Calamari is very popular and so is mozzarella.”

Sapore on Central Street in Halifax came second in the Courier Italian Restaurant of the Year 2018 competition.

La Perla on Hanging Royd Lane, Hebden Bridge was awarded third place.
