The 14-year-old of Hipperholme won the public vote after telling a set of self-penned jokes including topics such as his cerebral palsy condition and North Korea.

One of the judges David Walliams said: “You are the next Peter Kay, you are that good, you could be the biggest comedian in the country.”

The Brighouse High School pupil has been tipped to win the show and last night Glaswegian comedian Frankie Boyle tweeted: “the comedian kid is better than loads of pros”.

He also had support from cricketer Michael Vaughan and comedian Chubby Brown.

Winning the show, Jack, told presenters Ant and Dec that he thought he might try singing opera in the final.
