Award-winning painter Shani Rhys James recently featured on the BBC4 programme, ‘What Do Artists Do All Day?’

To find out the answer to that question - and to view the painting she started during the course of the programme - why not visit the summer programme of exhibitions at Dean Clough galleries in Halifax?

Shani, who won the Jerwood painting prize in 2003 and was awarded the MBE for servies to art in Wales in 2006, is one of several artists who have contributed to the exhibition ‘Home’ in the Crossley Gallery.

The exhibition runs until September and features Shani’s huge, celebrated portraits, James Rielly’s video animations and Matthew Krishanu’s figures. Shani said: “Dean Clough’s summer programme is great for the area.”
