A “legendary” composer has joined an award-winning Queensbury band.
Bruce Broughton, who is based in Los Angeles, has taken on the position of international creative chair for the Black Dyke Band.
Mr Broughton is a multiple Emmy Award winning composer and double Academy Award Nominee and his credits range from iconic TV shows including Hawaii Five-O and Dallas.
Peter Graham, the band’s creative chair, said: “His appointment is a real coup for Black Dyke. His is a rare talent - incredible versatility and a mastery of orchestrain which includes being familiar with the brass band medium as a former player.
“We have already had our first creative team meeting in London and his ideas for expanding the brass band sound are very exciting.”
Mr Broughton added: “To be associated with the Black Dyke Band in this new position is exciting and humbling. I have admired this very musically expressive and high virtuosic ensemble for years and am looking forward to an exciting and creative partnership with Nick, Peter and the band.”
