Brixton band Alabama 3 (A3), the crazy punk rock, blues and country techno situationist crypto-Marxist-Leninist electro band, are heading for the Victoria Theatre on Thursday (June 25).

These are the guys who created the brilliant song “Woke Up This Morning” which resonated across a decade by becoming the evocative theme for the mega-hit US Mafia series The Sopranos.

The band was founded in 1995 and is notable for its fusion of styles, ironic lyrics, intentionally humorous personae, and outrageous live performances.

Most members of the group have an alias, the band’s founding members adopting the personas Larry Love (Rob Spragg) and The Very Reverend Dr. D. Wayne Love (Jake Black).

They are joined by vocalist Aurora Dawn, keyboard player the Spirit of Love, Rock Freebase on guitar, Segs on bass, Harpo Strangelove backing vocals and harmonica, Steve Finnerty on guitar and drummer LB Dope.

“Most of the times the live shows won’t be what you’ll expect. That’s what makes the live shows good. That’s why people have been coming back to see us over this long period of time,” says co-founder Rev D.Wayne Love.

lThe gig starts at 8pm. Tickets are £19 and there is both standing and seating available.
