Fans of Electric Light Orchestra are in for a double treat.

The band’s leader Jeff Lynne has released both a new solo album and a collection of re-recorded ELO classics.

The new record, Lynne’s first since 1990s Armchair Theatre is called Long Wave and features old standards which influenced Lynne’s own work.

Of the motives behind the re-recorded hits album, Mr Blue Sky — the Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra, Lynne says: “When I listen to the old versions they don’t sound the way I thought they did when I first wrote and recorded them.”

Meanwhile the ELO Experience, an Electric Light Orchestra tribute show, will bring their Electric Light Orchestra Greatest Hits Tour to Halifax’s Victoria Theatre on Thursday night at 7.30pm.

Fans will be taken on a trip down memory lane, listening to the likes of Livin’ Thing, Wild West Hero, Don’t Bring Me Down, Hold on Tight, Telephone Line, Mr Blue Sky and many more.

Tickets are £17 and £15 with discounts available.
