Cast and crew of Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society are well into rehearsals for their next production, a farce called Heatstroke written by top comedy writer Eric Chappell.
He was responsible for some of the UK’s biggest sitcom hits of the 1970s, 80s and 90s including, Rising Damp with Leonard Rossiter, Only When I Laugh with James Bolam and Duty Free with Keith Barron and Gwen Taylor.
“It has got most of farces’ clichés: the wrong people in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong luggage; not to mention a psychopathic criminal and a troublesome snake but no falling trousers or slamming bedroom doors,” promises director John Tattersall.
The play had a successful tour of the Uk under the title Snakes and Ladders with Paul Nicholas and Ian Ogilvy.
Heatstroke runs from Wednesday to Saturday, June 24 - 27 with performances starting at 7.30pm.Tickets can be booked online at www.todhip.org or on our ticketline - 0333 6663366 or in person at Todmorden Tourist Information Centre. See the website for group and student deals.
