Members of Halifax Gilbert and Sullivan Society are in swashbuckling high spirits as they prepare for their next show after winning a coveted NODA award for last year’s staging of ‘The Mikado’.
This year the society is presenting ‘Pirates of Penzance’ at Halifax Playhouse from Tuesday, November 4, to Saturday, November 8, at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
The Pirate King will be played by Steven Greenwood with soprano Louise Fletcher as the heroine Mabel. Steven is well-known for his powerful operatic roles which he has performed with the society for many years and Louise recently took the principal role of Aline in ‘The Sorcerer’ with Hull Savoyards. Members of the audience are invited to dress up as pirates - if they wish! To book, call 01422 365998 or 381931.
