Christmas things to do in Halifax: Date announced for this year's Halifax festive parade which last year saw thousands fill town centre's streets

Hordes of people are expected to line the streets as Halifax again hosts a festive parade.

Last year’s event was a massive success, seeing thousands of people flock to enjoy an awesome spectacle of beautifully-crafted light-up puppets and lanterns, a troupe of dancing elves and stomping music.

And organisers of the Starlight Parade say 20024’s event will be even “bigger and better”.

There will be a change to last year’s parade route to include new areas of the town centre.

As well as the maim spectacle, organisers say visitors will be able to enjoy plenty of entertainment throughout the day in the lead-up to 4pm,

Natalie Shaw, project manager at Halifax BID, said: "We're excited to introduce a new route for this year's Starlight Parade, allowing more areas of Halifax town centre to join in the festive celebrations.

"By commissioning this event, we hope to spread the magic of Christmas and bring festive cheer to the town.

"It’s a wonderful opportunity for families and visitors to come together and enjoy the spirit of the season.”

Clare Danon, director and creative producer of Handmade Productions, added: "We will collaborate closely with local community groups, performers, and artists from across Calderdale to bring a magical and unexpected experience to Halifax town centre.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the entire community to engage in hands-on creative activities and for audiences to celebrate their collective artistry.”
