Great Get Together Fun Day at Crow Wood Park is cancelled

A rescheduled Sowerby Bridge fun day has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

When The Great Get together Fun Day at Crow Wood Park, due to take place on July 5, was cancelled it was hoped to hold a scaled down version on September 13.

Unfortunately due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19 the committee have decided that this will not now be practicable and it will not take place.

The event, which started in 2017 aiming to bring communities together in memory of Batley MP Jo Cox, has quickly established itself in the local summer calendar and last year, when combined with the popular "Burner - 10k run and 2.5k Fun Run" for the first time, saw a record attendance.

Organised by Bluebird Care; Bolton Brow Academy; Friends of Crow Wood Park; Memory Lane Cafe; SB Rotary and SB Tesco, secretary Chris Harvey said in the current climate they were left with no other option than to cancel this year and hope to be be back bigger and better in 2021.

However, in the meantime there will be other activities for people to get involved in, starting off with a "Summer Trail".

This is now underway will soon be followed by a virtual balloon race in partnership with Overgate Hospice.
