Determined not to be beaten by coronavirus, the organising team has announced that there will be a Cragg Challenge this year – but it will be a virtual one.

Phil Rodda, chairman of the organising committee, explained how it will work.

“To enter any of the events, all you need to do is arrange to run or cycle at a time to suit you and then email your time to [email protected] where it will be logged and you will receive your ‘Virtual Cragg Challenge Certificate’ emailed back to you once the entry period closes. Entries are open now and close on October 31.”

The virtual events are the usual running and cycling distances with the start/finish line just below Royd Ices on Cragg Road (B6138):

1. 5k run - The turning point is Church Bank Road.

2. 10k run - The turning point is Sykes Gate (not quite 10k but safer!)

3. 10 mile run - The turning point is at the United Utilities service road just below the reservoir.

4. 5 mile Cycle Ascent - The finish line for the cycle ascent is the United Utilities service road.

Anyone who takes part in the virtual Cragg Challenge is encouraged to share their time on Facebook.

Also participants can email details to [email protected] in order to receive their e-certificate.
