Poet Pam still making us laugh 40 years on
Her poems are instantly recognisable and dependably hilarious, their apparent simplicity masking her keen eye for everyday absurdities and hair-trigger timing.
Her illustrious career has included performances for the Queen, international tours, and her own shows on BBC Radio 2 and Radio 4.

Hide AdFrom reading her earliest verses at her local folk club in the early 1970s, Pam’s rise to national fame was meteoric, first through BBC radio, then on the Opportunity Knocks talent show, her first television appearance, in 1975.
Her recent autobiography The Necessary Aptitude covered her childhood in Berkshire and her time in the Women’s Royal Air Force.
