Hide AdShe is the latest MP to leave the shadow cabinet after Catherine McKinnell quit as shadow attorney general and Kevan Jones, Jonathan Reynolds and Stephen Doughty also resigned.
The resignations followed the sacking of Michael Dugher as shadow culture secretary in a front bench reshuffle by Mr Corbyn, who was elected Labour leader in September on a huge majority with more than 250,000 votes.
Ms Sherriff tweeted: “To clarify reports, I stepped down as PPS to focus on my campaign to defend Dewsbury and District from Tory cuts and my work on Health Sel Com.”
