Stonemason's touching tribute for fallen soldiers
Using local sandstone that is 350 million years old, Simon has crafted a 300mm wide and 450mm high stone poppy that will form part of the exhibition taking place at Halifax Town Hall, which is open between Monday, November 5 and Friday, November 9 from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Saturday, November 10 from 10am to 1pm and Monday, November 12 from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
He said: “I wanted to something to contribute because it’s such a good cause.

Hide Ad“It’s taken from a design from a brass and enamel badge, with a scroll underneath saying ‘Lest We Forget’.
“I think it looks alright. I think it’s important we don’t forget.
“Our lives could have been so different if we had lost the war.
“It was a terrible thing to lose all those lives, but they shouldn’t be forgotten about.”
