Courier Sport to join football community’s social media boycott
and live on Freeview channel 276
In recent weeks a number of players, including former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, have quit online platforms over a lack of action from technology companies, while clubs like Swansea City, Birmingham City and Rangers staged boycotts.
That was in response to a growing trend of racist abuse being directed at footballers on social media, including stars such as Marcus Rashford, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Raheem Sterling. Whether the victim is a Premier League footballer or not, racist abuse is abhorrent, and we are proud to join in this protest against it. We are also taking a stand against abuse of any kind by online trolls, which is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.
