Familiar name appointed at Shibden Mill

The Shibden Mill Inn is keeping it in the family with the appointment of Max Heaton, son of proprietors Simon and Caitlin Heaton, as a duty manager.

After graduating from Manchester University in 2012, Max embarked on a career in retail management before exploring the world of travel and tourism, during which time he worked at a hotel in South America and taught English for a year at a school in Thailand.

His dad Simon said: “It makes us very proud to now see our son Max working here as part of a fabulous team.

“The time he spent working in the UK and abroad after studying business management at university is already proving worthwhile as he gets to grips with things.

“He clearly has a passion for what we do at the Shibden Mill Inn and maintaining the high standards to which we operate, which is vitally important to our future success.”

Shibden Mill Inn had its most successful awards year to date in 2015, winning five nationally recognised awards that included being crowned Great British Pub of the Year, the nation’s Best Freehouse, Yorkshire Pub of the Year and Les Routiers Inn of the Year.

It recently won bronze in the Tourism Pub of the Year category at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2016.
