A lasting tribute for Jack

A memorial bench has been unveiled at Todmorden High School in memory of former student Jack Pickles.

Jack, 14, died last February after playing what is known as ‘The Choking Game’.

Since her son’s tragic and untimely death, Jack’s mum, Selina Booth, has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about the danger of the game and recently set up a charity in his name to spread her message.

The teenager’s high school friends raised money for the bench, which will now serve as a lasting tribute to his life. Mrs Booth said: “Due to everyone’s kind donations, we raised more money so there will also a second bench which will be placed at Walsden recreation ground for all to see and use.

“This is a great reminder to the younger generation not to participate in this deadly ‘game’.” Jack’s close friends decided on the working for each of the plaques which have been placed on the benches.

Mrs Booth also thanked everyone - both businesses and individuals - who helped to raise money for the benches.
