School life: GCSE and A-level students gained a great set of results this summer

Year 11 students at The North Halifax Grammar School have yet again produced a tremendous set of examination results. 99 per cent of our students achieved at least five A* to C passes including English and mathematics with almost 80 per cent of the students achieving not just five but 10 or more of these 'high level passes'.

Given the national spotlight on mathematics, it is worth noting that 70 per cent of NHGS students achieved an A* or A in maths and more than 95 per cent of them achieved a grade B or better.

Sixth Form students also achieved a fantastic set of results. With a 99 per cent pass rate, and 62 per cent of grades reaching A*-B, the students’ hard work was rewarded with great successes. For the third year running the school has appeared among the best schools in the country for the level of progress that students have made during their time in the sixth form.

Both sets of results reflect the truly collaborative approach between the students, parents and staff at NHGS in working together to ensure that the students are engaged and enthusiastic in their studies, and are able to give of their best in their studies.

Principal, Mr Fisher, said: “We are delighted for all our students. They have worked really hard for their success and it is fabulous to see so many of them so happy today.

“I would also like to thank all of the NHGS staff for their incredible efforts on behalf of the students and to add a ‘Well done!’ to all the parents and carers who have supported their children through their exams. It has all been well worth it in the end!”

This year’s sixth form open evening is on Wednesday, November 2, 6-8pm. It is a great opportunity to find out all about the courses and enrichment activities available.
