Funeral of former Halifax Town physio Brian Hendy to take place next month

The funeral of former Halifax Town physio Brian Hendy will take place next month, his family has announced.

Brian died recently, aged 86, and was well-known in the area for his connection with The Shaymen as well as being a former cricketer, rugby league physio and running local businesses.

His funeral will take place at Park Wood Crematorium in Elland at 12.45pm on Wednesday, December 14.

In a statement, his family said: “Although saddened at the loss of Brian, the family have been quite overwhelmed by the huge response from so many people sharing their stories and memories of him.

"We would also like to thank John Williams and the team at FC Halifax Town.”

A minute’s applause was held for Brian before FC Halifax Town’s home game against Boreham Wood on Saturday.

After the funeral on December 14, there will be refreshments at The Shay. All are welcome.
