FC Halifax Town: Grimsby preview

Grimsby go into the game on a high after beating Forest Green in the final of the National League play-offs last Sunday, and manager Paul Hurst has hinted he could make changes to his team from that match.

In strikers Omar Bogle, who scored twice last weekend, and Padraig Amond, Grimsby have 43 league goals this season, while only champions Cheltenham scored more goals in the Conference than Grimsby this term.

Ten of Grimsby’s last 14 goals have been scored by either Amond or Bogle, with Amond netting four in his last five and Bogle three in his last two appearances.

Halifax have only scored twice in their last six games, winning only one of those matches.

Town are believed to have a fully-fit squad to choose from, although striker Danny Hattersley is cup-tied having played for Chester in the competition already this season during his loan spell at the club.

Defenders Hamza Bencherif and Matty Brown both missed the last game of the season against Macclesfield, with Brown missing the last nine games of the campaign, so both are far from certain to start at Wembley.

The impressive form of James Bolton and Kevin Roberts at centre-half at the end of the league campaign could mean they both retain their places at the heart of the defence or play alongside Bencherif in a back three.

Halifax have already earned £42,000 in prize money from the competition, and will earn another £25,000 if they lose and another £50,000 if they win on Sunday.
