FC Halifax Town: We're desperate to get through in FA Cup, says King

Halifax captain Liam King says The Shaymen are 'desperate' to reach the third round of the FA Cup after the draw paired them with Championship side Brentford, if they beat Eastleigh in their second round replay.

Town and Eastleigh will battle it out for a place in the third round next Tuesday night at The Shay after they drew 3-3 on the south coast on Sunday.

King has happy memories of playing at Brentford, where he made his first professional start while playing for Rotherham.

He said: “I’ve played there before. It was my full debut for Rotherham and we won 1-0.

“It’s not a game that everyone would have hoped for but it’s still a Championship club.

“But the draw on the whole wasn’t the most exciting, and there were no real stand-out ties.

“But Brentford will be a very good side and we still want to get through, nothing’s changed in that respect.

“We’re still desperate to win. If you can tell people you’ve played in the FA Cup third round, it’s a massive achievement.

“It’s great to have got to the second round but the third round is a whole different kettle of fish.

“We want to get there and get that on our CV’s.”
