Artists viewed in moving pictures

Calderdale people who enjoy pop art and cartoons will be able to catch a special showing of a film which features many top names of the 20th century.

Film maker Mike Dibb presents ‘Seeing Through Drawing’ - his 1976 film featuring David Hockney, Ralph Steadman, Jim Dine and others - tomorrow (Wednesday, November 13) at the Artworks, Shaw Lodge, Halifax, from 6pm to 8.30pm.

Mike Dibb was born in Leeds and is an award-winning English documentary film maker.

In almost half a century of making films mainly for TV - on subjects including cinema, literature, art, jazz, sport and popular culture - he has “defined and re-defined not only the televisual art documentary genre but has been able to make moving image pieces as a form of self portraiture”.

Mike will give a pre-show talk and then present his two-hour film ‘Seeing Through Drawing’.
