Andre’s tribute to comedy genius

Frankie Howerd, Roy Castle, Jimmy Jewel and Sandy Powell: all Yorkshire comedy legends we love and respect. But what of local comedy heroes who have slipped through the cracks. One was local lad, John Henry - BBC Radio’s first-ever comedy star. Another is Halifax’s own Wilfred Pickles. And Charlie Williams who started out as a footballer. Each deserves more recognition in the archives of comedy history.

Now renowned stand-up and performer André Vincent has added another string to his bow with a series of informed, astute and humorous presentations on the UK’s mislaid comedy heroes. Vincent will talk about ‘The Mislaid’ of Yorkshire’s Variety, Clubland and entertainment circuits: using clips he reveals some surprising facts and unexpected connections within Yorkshire comedy.
