LBT first as drama group tackles Potter

The University of Huddersfield Drama Society has chosen Dennis Potter's best known stage play Blue Remembered Hills for its first ever production at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield on March 16 and 17.

The play, which was first broadcast on TV in 1979, follows a group of seemingly naïve West Country children in wartime Britain.

In a story evocative of Lord of the Flies, the seven year olds’ hilarious childhood games and friendships lead them into an unexpected tragedy reminding the audience that the balance between adulthood and childhood, and our control over morality and rationality, is more fragile than we think.

University of Huddersfield Drama Society President Rory Capel said: “The energy in this performance is incredible from start to finish whilst encapsulating the underlying dark message that Potter intended to portray.

“We’d love people to come and see the talent at our university for the first time at the Lawrence Batley Theatre Syngenta Cellar.”

Tickets cost £10 and can be booked via the Box Office on 01484 430528.
