World of Dr Seuss to be brought to life in Hippodrome Youth Theatre production
The world of Dr Seuss will be brought to life in a production by the Hippodrome Youth Theatre next week.
Seussical the Musical will run from October 20 to 24, and will feature some of Dr. Seuss’s best-loved characters, including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz and Mayzie La Bird.
The story follows Horton, a kind-hearted elephant who discovers a tiny speck of dust inhabited by the Whos. Horton must protect the tiny inhabitants from a world that refuses to believe they exist.
The cast is made up of 36 talented youngsters aged 11 to 17, and the musical will be accompanied by the Hippodrome’s live orchestra.
The show also marks a special moment in the theatre’s history as Helen Clarkson conducts her final Youth Theatre production as Musical Director, after working with generations of young performers and musicians over more than three decades.
Tickets are available from www.todhip.org or via Todmorden Tourist Information Centre.
