Halifax entrepreneur who appeared on Dragons’ Den relaunches Topple Tray product which will 'help so many people'

An entrepreneur who appeared on Dragons’ Den has relaunched his product.

Robert Simpson, who grew up near Halifax, created the Tipsi Tray – a single-handed serving tray allowing the user to carry drinks with ease.

In 2021, he appeared on the hit BBC TV series, but was turned away without an investment.

Despite this, the product had success in the following years, but was paused because of a problem with the manufacturer.

Now, Robert is relaunching the tray, with a slight redesign and under the new name of Topple Tray.

Speaking about the origins of the product, Robert said his late grandfather made himself a similar product to use around his home in Yorkshire in the 1980s.

He said: “He lived in a draughty house where you had to shut the doors behind you.”

“I realised that it was so helpful for him,” he added.

Robert decided to turn his grandfather’s idea into a product, and created the Single Handed company, which sells a number of single-handed products, including the Topple Tray.

He said the tray was “easier to use than a conventional tray” and is suited to people with disabilities, balance issues, people who work in hospitality, and people who work on boats.

Robert said the feedback he has received since the relaunch has been “extremely rewarding”, adding that the product is “going to help so many people”.

“The feedback I have received is so fantastic,” he said.

He said customers can now make pre-orders for the relaunched Topple Tray, with shipping expected to go ahead next year.
