I am a digital reporter for the Yorkshire Evening Post, with a focus on transport and education - whilst also covering breaking news and crime stories.
Scottish born and bred, I started my journalism journey on the HND Practical Journalism course at Fife College, before gaining a Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Journalism at Edinburgh Napier University. During my final months on the course, I completed a 10,000 word dissertation that explored to what extent the actions of the British media contribute to racist attitudes within football - including unconscious bias and the rise of social media.
I joined the team at the Yorkshire Evening Post in September 2021 and made the move to Leeds, which has since become my home. As the YEP’s chief transport reporter, I have lead our site’s coverage on a range of important stories from the planned expansion of Leeds Bradford Airport, the redevelopment and pedestrianisation of Leeds City Square, as well as continued works on the Armley Gyratory, franchising of West Yorkshire’s bus network and proposed plans for a Leeds tramway.
In my role as the YEP’s education specialist, I particularly focus on the academic performance of the city’s schools and how they have been rated by Ofsted inspectors - something that's very important for the parents among our readership.
Outside of work - when I’m not shouting from the stands at the football - I’ll likely be found enjoying a cold beer while watching one of my favourite tv shows.
