A number of Sainsbury’s Bank’s Travel Money Bureaux, which were closed temporarily during the Coronavirus pandemic, have now re-opened across the UK.

Residents of Halifax can once again buy and sell more than 12 different foreign currencies, and transfer money abroad with Western Union at their local Sainsbury’s supermarket.

Since re-opening, the most popular currencies purchased at Sainsbury’s in Halifax have been Euros (90 per cent) followed by Turkish Lira (7 per cent) and US Dollars (1 per cent).

With many Brits looking to travel across Europe and further afield in the next few months, customers can purchase travel money at the store, with better rates for Nectar members.

If holidays are cancelled due to these unprecedented times, customers can return their travel money at the exchange rate purchased, if they retain their receipt.

Jason King, Customer Director at Sainsbury’s Bank said: “We’re delighted to welcome back travel money customers to our Halifax store.

"Whether it’s buying currency for a holiday abroad, selling back any extra from your trip or sending money to friends and family overseas with Western Union, we’re open and ready.”

Strict hygiene procedures will be in place to ensure safe handling of cash, protecting both colleagues and customers.
