'Proud to be staying put in Halifax': Building society pledges to stay in Halifax until at least 2030
A high street building society has pledged to keep its Halifax branch for at least the next three years.
In an advert placed in the Courier, Nationwide promises its George Square premises, in Halifax town centre, will be open until at least the start of 2030.
It describes itself as “a building society proud to be staying put in Halifax’ and says it is investing in the George Square branch.
Nationwide has made the same pledge about the rest of its branches across the country.

The move follows the closure of several banks’ branches across Calderdale.
Most recently, in June, NatWest closed its premises on Waterhouse Street in Halifax town centre – the bank’s last remaining branch in Calderdale.
